| Whew! Moved to Austin Sunday...just getting settled in. Tomorrow I start my CTE certification training orientation. Funny story with that, but I'll have to update later. I'm too tired........more to come....... | | |
| slight concussion and whiplash. i'm ok though. heh. | | |
| good gracious, sometimes i play too hard. i'm laying in bed with a persistent achy head, doped up on anti-inflammatories. wonder why?
yesterday i joined john, jason, josh, stuart, odie, and trey at yucatan to take advantage of the sunshine and play some sand volleyball. if you will notice, at this time i was the only girl (two arrived later), so i had to up my game to play with the boys. doesn't phase me, i'm used to being one of the only females on the court - i can usually hold my own.
or i could anyway. until i played against trey. i'm only picking on him because he happened to be the one spiking the ball, but i took one, a hard one, straight to the face. like slo-mo, it came sailing toward my nose and i had a split second to shift my head just to the left to avoid a broken schnoz. the blow knocked my sunglasses clear off my face and me to the ground in a complete daze. next thing i remember is trey standing over me making sure i was conscious.
ouch. the ball slapped my face and i think my brain must have hit the back of my skull because that was the first place i noticed pain. in fact, my whole head was throbbing and i was dizzy, but i wasn't going to be the weak girl. no sir-ree. i jumped up, teetered, and gracefully excused myself from the game to regain my balance and bearings and went right back in for the next game. silly me.
last night i suffered. no sleep. today i still suffer. poppin pills left and right, john thinks i was "slightly concussed." i'm thinking he might be right. i dug through my medicine cabinet and found some anti-inflammatories that my doc gave me after my car wreck because my neck snapped back upon contact resulting in more whiplash. la la la. drugs.
it's going to be a little while until i play again.........at least with the big boys......

| I just got a job! God totally provides. Yesterday I quit my current job with nothing lined up and the principal at Lake Travis High School contacted me today and offered me a position that had just opened up. So as of August 27, 2007 I will answer to "Miss Riddlebarger." Hmm ...or maybe "Miss R" would be nicer. This is really happening. I'm so excited I can hardly sit still. More updates to come! | | |
